Cigarette Boxes

This was also purchased in Malacca. I have about 25 type of boxes. A unique collection. This cigarette were used during the Straits Settlement by the Brits. All this cigarette were made in England.

Denomination : Dinheiro
Diameter : 17mm
Weight : 4grams

Circa : Sebastian I, 16th King of Portugal
and the Algrave ( 11th June 1557 – 4th Aug 1578 )

Composition :
Tin ( Sn-60-80% )
Lead ( Pb 10-32% )
iron ( Fe 5-20% )

Description :
- Front : nil
- Back : Armillary sphere.

Lead ( Pb 10-32% )
iron ( Fe 5-20% )

Description :
- Front : Cross of the ‘Military order of Christ’ with
letters in compartments “ISMA”.
- Back : Armillary sphere was an important
astronomical and navigational instrument for the Portugese.
