Georgetown City Council Child Health Card :Health card in all four languages and its 'Georgetown CITY Council'. George Town was given the status as a “City” or “Bandaraya” on the 1st of January 1957 by Queen Elizabeth II few months ahead of the Independence of the Nation. However during the restructuring period, the George Town Municipal Council was merged with the Rural District of Council and Penang Municipal Council was formed. Evantough the ‘City’ status was not revoked officially, both - the Federal and State Government does not recognize George Town as a ‘City’ ( so silly ). List of Cities in Malaysia.
